Has anyone ever wondered why this bike is so porky??
I definitely notice the weight after moving up from my 425lb CBR500R, but I'm not trashing it because it's heavy. The motor is more than capable of making me shit myself while grinning ear to ear. It's just harder to taxi backwards into my parking spot at work, and a tad more noticeable while waiting at a stop light.
It's just bikes in this category weigh in anywhere from 40-65lbs lighter. Makes me wonder where all the weight is in this bike. Maybe the motor needs an update to more modern materials? (for all I know it already does) Maybe because it's a GSR750 that they introduced in 2011 and it just carries some old-timer weight? Maybe it's that single extra cylinder compared to the triples, or 2 over the twins? Then again, the ER-6N is a heavy twin.
It just makes me wonder is all...
EDIT for more info
FZ-09 -- 414 FZ-07 -- 397 Speed Triple R -- 416 NC750S -- 476 (low in the frame) ER-6N - 450 GSX-S750 -- 470

My guess is it is mainly from the heavy steel frame and swingarm.

Easiest place to put the weight for sure. They had a lot of time to change things before they released it here and refreshed it in the European market though. I mean, they are competing against the FZ-09 that makes more power and torque, has a far lighter body and only sells for a little higher price. I think they could have really done something amazing if they took this bike and updated the frame/swing arm. Everything else is amazing, why not just make it that little bit better before releasing a 4 year old bike in NA. Watch, next year they'll update everything and I'll be kicking myself in the ass
