Well my next oil change is coming up soon. I purchased the Suzuki Synthetic Oil pit box this time around. link The pit kit is a good deal as it contains 4 liters of oil, filter, crush washer and gloves. All you need is a 17mm box wrench, filter wrench and something to drain the oil into. Next area of maintenance will be tire(s). My back tire is getting "squared" off due to my straight hiway drives. Still has half decent tread at close to 6000km (3600miles)

Did my oil change this morning. Engine sounds a bit quieter and my mileage has increased a tiny bit. Instead of using 4.9l/100km I'm using 4.7l/100km

I found after 3-4 regular oil changes for break in that the synthetic oil smoothes out the shifting. Not quite as clunky anymore. Curious to see how long it lasts as the regular oil seemed alright until 1,000 miles.

Just changed my oil again. 1100 miles after my first change synthetic both times. After 1000 miles the oil looked basically brand new still. Not changing again for 3-4000k miles.

I did my 1,000km change at 800km because of how shitty the transmission was feeling and how rough the bike was running. Fresh blood really brought it back to life though. Just used regular oil, I usually wait till around 4,000km before switching to synthetic, but I remember my 500 felt like a completely different bike after the switch. Really looking forward to seeing how this bike reacts, which is only 2,000km away. Also been running Costco gas for a while to see what my mileage is like - going to switch to chevron soon. When I came home from my vacation (sat for 4 days) and fired it up a good deal of moisture vapour came out of the fuel tank overflow tube when I wheeled it onto the driveway. Very alarmed and hope nothing is damaged. Also, been averaging 5.3l/100km for the first 1,500km or so. My Fuelly so you can check that out.

I remember asking the dealer when i picked my bike up what oil to use. He strongly suggested no full synthetic till 10,000 miles. I didnt ask why just left it at that.

That's a load of crap. Some bikes come with synthetic oil right from factory. What I have read from various sources is if the bike comes stock with mineral oil it is best to replace with synthetic oil at 2nd oil change with approx 6000km (3600 miles). This allows parts to wear and mesh properly. I have gone this route with a couple of previous bikes with great results. But to each their own.....do what you are comfortable with. It's just my personal opinion.

I went to valvoline conventional for the first and will swap to synthetic at 3000. I run this in all of my bikes and have never had an issue.

Who is angry? ? I wasn't If I was angry I would HAVE SHOUTED AND USED CAPS! Most bike racers rebuild their engines quite a few times in a season. They use synthetic oil exclusively. A friend of mine who races in semi pro class used Kawasaki synthetic oil. He tore his engine down after the race season was over. Inside of his engine was really clean without any wear. High revving engines love synthetic oil. Synthetic does not break down as fast as mineral oil and can stand hotter temperatures. Now we are NOT going to start a dino vs, synthetic debate, its been held on many other forums and in articles on the net, just google it. Once again its my personal preference to use it and hey, use whatever you are comfortable with.

Would you recommend the Suzuki synthetic oil over something like the Mobil 1 10W40 Synthetic racing oil? I used that in my 500R and it seems fine? I imagine most of the higher quality oils perform relatively similar?

I imagine most of the higher quality oils perform relatively similar? Actually I really like the Kawasaki synthetic oil. The Mobil 1 is really great oil and we all know that Suzuki and Kawasaki do not make their own oil. My main reason for using Suzuki is to fulfill my warranty requirements. As I buy the oil from the same dealer that I purchased my bike from they do realize I buy my oil from them to do oil changes on my bike. It also helps that the price is reasonable for the oil and filter and crush washer. My bike came with a std 1 year warranty with an extra 2 year Suzuki plan as well. So figure 2 oil changes a season its not too bad.
